1. Organization
Building a strong foundation for the sustainable revitalization effort, including engaging community stakeholders, establishing a diverse board and committees, and ensuring consistent funding. It’s essential to develop partnerships among various groups such as local government, businesses, and community members to create a unified vision for downtown Ste. Geneviève.
2. Promotion
Creating a positive image that will rekindle community pride and improve consumer and investor confidence in the downtown area. This can include marketing the unique characteristics of Ste. Geneviève, organizing special events, and fostering a vibrant atmosphere that attracts visitors and residents alike.
3. Design
Improving the physical appearance of downtown is crucial. This can be achieved through historic preservation, building rehabilitation, encouraging supportive new construction, developing sensitive design management systems, and long-term planning. Aesthetic improvements like street furniture, signs, landscaping, and window displays can greatly enhance the attractiveness of the downtown area.
4. Economic Vitality
Strengthening and diversifying the economic base of downtown is vital. This can be done by retaining and expanding existing businesses, recruiting new ones that complement the existing mix, and converting unused or underutilized spaces into productive property. Providing education and support to business owners and encouraging a balanced commercial mix will further boost the local economy.
